Gas Lines - Liberty Drive in The Peninsula at Windsong Ranch, Prosper, Texas!

The order of each activity in which a pool is build is critical to the construction timeline. For the utilities being installed around the pool, it is important to start with the deepest infrastructure and work our way up to the surface in layers.

Residential natural gas lines are typically buried between 18-24" deep measured to the top of the pipe. The national color for natural gas pipes is yellow, and a yellow tracer wire must be located with the pipe in the same trench. The City Inspector will ensure that the gas line is buried at the correct depth, that the tracer wire is continuously installed, and that the pipe holds pressure on a pressure gauge. Once inspected, the next layer of utilities can be installed or the trench can be covered up and compacted.

If the pipe ever needs to be located for additional excavation, a tracer / tone generator is attached to the end of the wire at the gas meter. Then a technician walks the yard with a locater tool that senses the tone providing the location of the wire. The utility is then marked with yellow spray paint to indicate the approximate location of the utility for the excavation crew.
